Our forum is loaded with a wealth of information to help you setup and install your node/hub. The only requirement is that you create an account and login to view/contribute information.
Vermont Allstar Network Operating Policy & Procedure
One of the purposes of this network is to provide amateur radio operators access to the global networks across VT and beyond.
Even though we are an open system, no one wants a controlling station telling them what to do or not to do, as such you will be asked to leave if this is the case.
Every node that is part of the system has equal say.
That being said, please understand that while accessing the nodes, you may actually be linked to very large hubs or other networks covering multiple continents and different parts of the world.
Common courtesy should prevail. Rag chewing is encouraged of course but we ask that that you leave a break for any stations that may want to come in. This provides a window for priority traffic especially when connected to large hubs/networks. When you become aware that you are connected to a large hub/network, please do not dominate the network with long QSO's.
Please do not connect the Vermont Allstar Network to other large networks without prior approval from admins of both systems.
There are many stations monitoring/waiting to check in, join the conversation or often there is a station trying to reach a specific operator as example, so please leave a break between transmissions.
If you are unsure of how to operate the system then it is recommended to listen for a while to familiarize yourself with how the system works.
There are thousands of nodes all over the world and many of them are individual nodes and you will be operating thru that station's private equipment.
Common courtesy will go a long way in maintaining good standing with our friends around the world. "Inclusive" is the key word here, everyone is welcome.
Discussion of Illegal Activities and swearing are prohibited. You will be warned once & failure to comply with result in banning of offending member.
When the nodes are active, there will be a human presence as a fail safe. All nodes have a (3) three minute time out limit.
This system was being built to have fun with. So, let us have fun meeting new folks from all over the world. What better way to pass the time while driving through scenic Vermont.
All of the Vermont nodes are perfect for any one hiking the AT/LT across VT with a 5 watt handitalkie
73 and looking forward to meeting you on the air!
There is a 3 minute time out timer on the system. So please set all transmitters to this Please
